Expected utility, Cumulative Prospect Theory, and their descendants have achieved undeniable successes, but those successes are local. Outside narrow domains, they fragment into anomalies - preference reversals, context effects, scale dependence, instability, and sudden transitions. The usual response has been to add parameters, hybridize models, or reinterpret failures as noise. This book has taken a different path.
